After the harpy Ethel Meyerlinkh saved her from her would-be captor, they discovered that their interests aligned for an easy deal:
The clone needed a hiding place far away from Dr. Morag, and Ethel needed a helping hand for running her overseas business while she's working in Anvil Flats.

And so (after a crash course in all the ways you can cook an egg), the clone ended up as the new face at Ethel's Egg-Imbiss in Gernsbeck, Germany.

She decided to keep the name of her DNA donor, albeit with a difference in spelling in order to establish her individuality.

Oh, and credit where credit is due, of course:
Thanks to Stilldown, lirvilas and Jay042, who each thought up Ethel Meyerlinkh, Karen Schibel and Dr. Morag's Schibel clone respectively!

People will miss Ethel, but I'm sure Karin will quickly-quick get popular with the boys soon, too.

Peter has seen the older original during the quadrophenia show at the lake eerie campsite...

Yes, and he might even recognize a certain familiarity....
If he'll be able to put two and two together is another matter however.

Ethel’s not stuck in Anvil Flats, she’s just there until the girls can figure out how to fry an egg.

Might be a while

Ethel: "Argh!! Damnit, Karen! What was once beautiful egg is now just a lump of coal! How come even your own clone learned this faster than you!?"
Mrs. Schibel: "My what?"
Ethel: "Sigh. Never mind. Let's try that again. And again. And again..."
